Bespoke Libraries
& Bookcases
I design and build bespoke libraries and fitted bookcases in Oxfordshire, creating elegant storage for any sized book selections while enhancing the character of your home. Each library is carefully crafted to suit the proportions of the room and your personal preferences.
A bespoke library is far more than simple shelving. It becomes part of the architecture of the space, shaping how a room feels and how it is used. Whether designed for a quiet reading room, a home office, or a living space, a fitted library adds both practical storage and a sense of warmth and atmosphere.
Tailored to your space.
Every project I create is designed specifically for the space it will occupy. Many homes across Oxfordshire feature alcoves, chimney breasts, or unusual wall proportions that standard furniture cannot accommodate. Bespoke shelving allows these features to be embraced rather than hidden.
Full-height bookcases can transform a room by drawing the eye upward and creating a calm, structured aesthetic.
In larger spaces, wall-to-wall shelving can form a striking feature, while smaller libraries can be integrated into alcoves or corners to make the most of available space.
Because each project is designed from the ground up, the layout, proportions, and detailing can be tailored to complement the architectural style of the home.

Layout & Storage
A well-designed library must be both beautiful and practical. Shelving depth, spacing, and structure are all carefully considered to accommodate a variety of books and objects.
Common design features include:
Adjustable shelving to accommodate books of different heights
Deep shelves for large-format books or collections
Integrated cabinets for concealed storage
Display shelving for objects, artwork, or photographs
Corner shelving to maximise otherwise unused space
Full-height bookcases that create a cohesive architectural feature
This flexibility allows each library to reflect the lifestyle and interests of the client while maintaining a balanced and harmonious appearance.

Carefully selected materials
I make libraries and bookcases using carefully selected materials chosen for both durability and visual character. Natural timber and furniture-grade plywood are often used to create shelving that feels warm, tactile, and enduring.
Visible wood grain can add depth and texture to a room, creating a calm and inviting environment for reading or working. The use of high-quality materials and natural finishes also ensures that the shelving remains strong and stable, even when supporting large collections of books.
My approach prioritises craftsmanship and simplicity, allowing the natural beauty of the material to remain at the forefront of the design.

I work with homeowners throughout Oxfordshire and surrounding areas to create bespoke libraries that combine thoughtful design with expert craftsmanship. From the first design conversation to final installation, we focus on creating furniture that feels completely at home within its surroundings.
The result is a library that not only stores books but enhances the atmosphere of the room — a calm, beautiful space designed for reading, living, and enjoying for many years to come.
